South Teams captured 5 of 6 games on Saturday to win the 2019 Orange County North/South Challenge!

Day 1 Results:

Game #1: Aliso Niguel 62 Woodbridge 41. Wolverines' Trent Giffin selected as MVP for Aliso with 15 points. Tyler Weaver added 16 points for the Wolverines. pts, Nygle Williams ed Woodbridge with 12 points.

Game #2: Corona del Mar 61 San Clemente 59. Corona del Mar's Mathys Djomby-Enyawe selected as MVP. Jack Stone had 19 points for the Sea Kings. Max Rumph led San Clemente with 22 points.

Game #3: Cypress 64 San Juan Hills 64-57. Cypress' Eddie Spencer selected as MVP and scored 11 points for the Centurions. Elijah Vaielua added 14 oints. Adam Weingard led San Juan Hills with 19 points.

Day 2 Results:

Game #4: Laguna Hills 50 Huntington Beach 48. Laguna Hills' David Moon selected as MVP. Moon scored 10 points and Brayden Munger added 9 points for the Hawks. Congly Tu scored 15 points to lead Huntington Beach.

Game #5: St. Margaret's 57 Tustin 38. St. Margaret's Will Kenner selected as MVP with 17 points. Tartan Anthony Constantino added 11 points. Ryan Stading led Tustin with 17 points.

Game #6: Capo Valley Christian 57 Northwood 53 (OT). . Capo Valley Christian's Scottie McDowell selected as MVP with 10 points. Luke Powell led Capo Valley Christian scoring with 22 points. Northwood's Amit Flint led the Timberwolves with 17 points.

Game #7: Los Alamitos 59 Dana Hills 44. Los Alamitos' Kevin Kent selected as MVP and scored 24 points. David Olcomendy added 12 points for the Griffins. Harrison Wiese lead Dana Hills with 25 points.

Game #8: Tesoro 79 Beckman 52. Titans Matt De Angelo and Kaden Garrett selected as co-MVP's. DeAngelo scored 22 points and Garrett scored 18 points for Tesoro. Jake Morrison scored 10 points for Beckman.

Game #9: Capistrano Valley 70 LaHabra 33. Capistrano Valley's Langston Redfield selected as MVP with 11 points. Brody Summer led the Cougars with 15 points. LaHabra's Erik Howlin led the Highlanders with 14 points.

Schedules and Scores (Week of 1/6 - 1/17)

Varsity Schedule:

1/22 - 7:00 PM @ San Juan Hills (League)

1/17 - Tesoro Varsity captured their 17th win of season and 5th straight with a 66-44 win over Laguna Hills on Senior night. Matt DeAngelo had 19 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, Kaen Garrett had 17 points and 4 assists, Mike Mahlen had 11 points and Kyle Ritscher had 11 points and 4 steals to spark the Titans. Titans led 33-19 at halftime. Tesoro now 17-3, 3-0 in league.

1/10 - Tesoro defeated El Toro, 60-47, in an exciting game at Tesoro.

JV Schedule:

1/22 - 5:30 PM @ San Juan Hills (League)

1/17 - The Tesoro JV cruised to an easy victory Friday evening with a 67-25 win over Laguna Hills. The Titans finally had a full squad with 3 players coming back from injuries tonight. The Titans were led by Jackson Gray with 16 points including a perfect 6 for 6 from the free throw line. Blake Manning added 15 points.

1/10 - Tesoro JV defeated El Toro, 63-48, Friday evening.

Sophomore Schedule:

1/22 - 5:30 PM - San Juan Hills @ Tesoro (League)

1/17 - Tesoro Sophomores beat Corona del Mar Thursday afternoon, 70-65, behind a monster game by Isaiah Viajar. Isaiah handled full court double team pressure and controlled the Titan offense. He also led all scorers with 31 points. Following Isaiah in scoring were Ethan Kosaki with 13 and Jonathan Nguyen with 11. Jonathan and Emmanuel Wandji also had strong rebounding games.

Freshmen Schedule:

1/22 - 4:00 PM - San Juan Hills @ Tesoro (League)

1/17 -Tesoro Freshman improved to 3-0 in league and 12-4 overall with a 69-29 win over Laguna Hills Friday. 12 Titans scored in the game and all 14 rostered players had extensive playing time. Jake Bennett led all scorers with 11 points, followed by Bailey Poyser and Owen Burnside with 9 each. Poyser also hit a buzzer beater to end the 3rd quarter. The Titans played great defense throughout the game including 14 steals and 6 blocked shots.

1/10 - Tesoro Freshmen defeated El Toro, 75-34, Friday afternoon.

Freshmen B Schedule:

1/11 - Tesoro Freshmen B Game #1 v. San Juan Hills - Tesoro Freshmen B team lost a tough one to San Juan Hills Saturday afternoon, 54-53! The Titans hit 5 3-pointers in the first half and Will Green hit a 3 point shot at the buzzer to give the Titans a 28-27 lead at half. Tesoro was down 12 in the third, but came back to tie the game before losing by one point. Keegan Poston, Caden Adra, Dylan Adra and Tyler Wood each scored 9 points for the Titans.

1/11 - Tesoro Freshmen Game #2 v. Aliso Niguel - Tesoro Fresdmen B team lost to Aliso Niguel, 84-59, Satruday afternoon. Dylan Adra scored 13 points in the first half including a buzzer beater 3 pointer to give the Titans the half time lead at 34-33. However, the Titans could not hold off Aliso Niguel as they outscored Tesoro 32-16 in the 3rd quarter to clinch the victory. Aliso scored 12 3-pointers in the game.
